Located in a beautiful residential
setting in the Kahala area, the SECOH Senior Center provides a
stimulating, caring, and individually tailored day service for
people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia.
Our
facility includes:
heated pool & spa with wheelchair access
a park for strolling, picnics or playing miniature golf
Individual plans may include:
personal assistance, attention to hygiene and medical issues
professional supervision
therapeutic, social, educational and recreational activities
Activities may include:
arts and crafts
exercise
working on hobbies
volunteer community work
reading
television viewing
outings to various points of interest in our community
regular rest periods
SECOH also provides counseling and will make referrals as
appropriate when there are changes in a participants medical or mental condition.
A nurse is available on a daily basis to assist in assessing health status.
The center staff are specially
trained to support individuals with disabilities and Alzheimer's disease.
All direct support workers are screened to determine:
pre-requisite skills and knowledge of medication assistance
behavioral intervention techniques
individualized plans
emergency protocols
individual rights
abuse and neglect, incident reporting
seizure care and management, body mechanics and
confidentiality
Ongoing training and supervision assure that each employee's
job performance continues to meet or exceed SECOH's high standards. In addition,
all direct support workers maintain current CPR, First Aid and Water Safety certification.
Family Supports
Families
and care providers of people with Alzheimer's disease and other
disabilities may find themselves in need of assistance or relief to
maintain their own mental and physical well being. To meet this need,
SECOH offers family supports such as:
Respite
Companionship
Skilled nursing
All supports are individually designed and
arranged based on the family’s needs and desires.
